A quiet Buffalo area neighborhood was rocked Thursday evening around 10:20 P.M. when a Continental turboprop airplane (Q400 Bombardier) came down on a Clarence Center house just 5 minutes from the landing strip at Buffalo Niagara Int’l Airport.
It dove directly into, then burst into flames after striking the house of 22-year-old SUNY Brockport senior (pictured above from her Facebook profile) Jill Wielinski, who miraculously escaped the burning wreckage with her mother Karen. A third unidentified person perished with the melting remains of those 49 others aboard this fateful craft.

“The whole sky was lit up orange,” said Bob Dworak, who lives less than a mile from the crash site. “All the sudden, there was a big bang, and the house shook.” The 74-seat Q400 Bombardier aircraft, operated by Colgan Air, was flying from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and preparing to land at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
I wonder how travelers are feeling upon hearing this news, since today is Friday the 13th, and stuff…lol.
This is really crazy. I live 10 minutes from the crash site!
