Antonella Barba’s Nude Pics Won’t Get Her Booted

Even though nude pictures of Antonella Barba surfaced over the past couple weeks, including some fake ones of her allegedly giving fellatio, she will not be disqualified from continuing American Idol. Her best friend Amanda Coluccio says this:

The less explicit photos “were meant to be seen by one person and one person only,” Coluccio said. The paper reports that she “speaks with Barba daily, [and] says they believe someone from Catholic University broke into her computer and posted the pictures.” As for those conversations, “She’s been crying. She’s horrified. She’s most upset about what her parents think,” Amanda said.

Don’t cry, Antonella. This picture scandal probably helped more than it could ever hurt. The producers even support her, affirming that her standing on the show is still intact despite this mess.

Simon Cowell said yesterday at the Playboy Mansion, of all places, that the photos “[should] not affect her standing on the show, and if the public wants to keep her in, they’ll keep her in.” He added, “These people haven’t done anything illegal; that’s their private life.

Ryan Gaycrest added this:

He said he had not yet seen the photos, Seacrest added that he would “absolutely let (Barba) stay on. If American Idol is a true representation of American youth, we’re going to find imperfections. And it’s OK to be imperfect.”
