ACTUALLY, YOU FAT UGLY CUNT, MUCH OWES IT’S LIFE TO MTV, SO THEREFORE AVRIL OWES HER LIFE AND CAREER TO MTV. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT ASSHOLE!
Relationship with MTV
MuchMusic was launched in part to capitalize on the success of MTV, the American cable music channel that had premiered a few years earlier. Although never an affiliate, Much would often broadcast MTV-produced programming such as awards shows and concerts. MTV itself was not permitted in Canada due to CRTC restrictions on format protection. However, no such restrictions existed in the United States, where CHUM attempted to compete with MTV through MuchUSA (now the unaffiliated Fuse).
Perhaps owing to this, MTV was unwilling to extend its relationship with MuchMusic longer than necessary, and has made two attempts to launch a competing MTV Canada channel. The first channel was bought by CHUM but was quickly stripped of its MTV programming by Viacom (it is now known as Razer). The second channel, owned by CTV, launched in early 2006.
Since the acquisition of CHUM (which includes MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic), MTV Canada and MuchMusic have technically been under the same ownership by CTVglobemedia. However, the effects of this change of ownership will not be fully felt until CTV announces its plans for the two stations; as of now, all that is known is that CTV plans on maintaining all of CHUM’s specialty channels, which would include Much. An annoncement is expected after the 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards, set to take place June 17, 2007.
As noted above, for years, MuchMusic and its sister station MuchMoreMusic have purchased and broadcast shows featured on MTV and its sister station VH1 - the effect of the merger on Much’s ability to broadcast this programming is yet to be determined.

Exactly…I’m sure she was thrilled to get an award from her home country. Besides…MTV pretty much just sucks ass now anyway.
