With yesterday’s news that the CHP will seek to prosecute Brandy after she killed a woman last month, black civil rights leaders are pissed off and think Brandy is being made into a “political trophy.” On the flipside, the family of the woman that Brandy killed just filed a lawsuit for wrongful death against the star.
The family of Awatef Aboudihaj filed the suit today in Van Nuys, CA. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles City Attorney is considering the CHP’s recommendation to criminally charge Brandy with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
The bullshit flag raised itself on this next statement, which was made earlier by some asshole named Najee.
The Los Angeles City Attorney is deciding whether to file misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges against Brandy, whose Land Rover slammed into a Toyota on the 405 Freeway killing the driver. Today, Najee Ali, leader of Project Islamic HOPE, said the CHP’s recommendation to file charges against the singer “is unfairly targeting her for prosecution because of her celebrity.” Ali told TMZ he is organizing an e-mail campaign in the African American community to put pressure on City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo to reject the case.
