Meet Nasubi - Japanese Guy, Locked in Room Naked, Dancing over Free Rice!

A young comedian seeking fame, Nasubi responded to Nippon T.V.’s audition call, promising an “Entertainment Industry Job” to the person selected. Unbeknownst to the group, the selection involved nothing more than luck - Nasubi was chosen from a lottery, then immediately blindfolded and rushed off to a small apartment around Tokyo. The apartment contained nothing except a cushion, table, small radio, a telephone, some notebooks, a few pens, and the most important …a stack of magazines filled with notecards, in which Nasubi was to send off daily, entering himself into contest’s, until he received $10,000 in prizes.

Living solely in the apartment, isolated from the world, surviving only off items won in the contests. The producers made him strip, and left Nasubi for his first night - alone, naked, and scared. He had know idea what to eat, how long it would take to win the prizes, or what to wipe his bum with after defecation. Nasubi was also unaware that each moment of his life was now being filmed and broadcast to millions across Japan! Similar to Jim Carrey’s hit motion picture “The Truman Show,” only for real, “Denpa Shonen” rose to the top of Japanese T.V. faster than any other in history. Nasubi almost went insane, but he used his patience and will to write thousands of postcards away each week, and devise special dances for each prize he won - naked!
