Sanjaya Malakar Is A Joke, Most Hated Idol

Unless you’re a fucking moron, you’ll know that the only reason Sanjaya Malakar remains on American Idol is because of the internet, radio, and possibly illegal substances (Abdul pills, marijuana?). This is easily figured by the number of fans that actually call in to vote because they like his vocal abilities — which is quite clearly, 2 out of every 10 tween girls. The true reason behind his surge in the polls every week is because of Vote for the Worst (which previously helped Antonella Barba) and also Howard Stern’s talk show.

Howard Stern announced On March 19, 2007, that he was launching a campaign with his listeners to vote for Sanjaya to win the competition. Some Stern regulars, such as Jeff The Drunk, have claimed to have voted for Malakar at least 300 times. In addition, the weblog Vote for the Worst has Sanjaya Malakar as its current “pick” for the sixth season top 12 after previous candidates Antonella Barba and Sundance Head were eliminated.

And to top it all off, even his fellow contestants think he’s a no talent hack. From TMZ:

An inside source revealed exclusively to TMZ that some of the remaining “Idol” hopefuls are annoyed that the vocally-challenged 17-year-old continues to advance, while other “more talented” singers get sent home. We’re told the contestants are not-so-much mad at Sanjaya, but at the situation, which finds websites like votefortheworst.com and satellite radio host Howard Stern urging fans to keep Malakar in — simply as a joke. We’re told the “Idols” don’t find it funny, since it’s their future being toyed with. Our source adds that the contestants find it troublesome that they all work so hard to pick the right song and rehearse each week, but it appears that all Sanjaya really has to do to move forward is to show up wearing a scrunchie.

That quote above could have been filled with some nice expletives! Either way, I have no idea if Sanaja will win the entire competition, but at this point it looks like it’s definitely possible. Maybe the whole thing is staged — Sanjaya wins, Simon quits as promised, and Idol comes to an end after six seasons. That would be a clever wrap to an ever-annoying show.
